How to handle unemployment Woes, Go Get a Job!

ricardog started this conversation

As I read about all of the people that are unemployed and searching for works. I started to think of what I did to get a job. What I figured out and also in speaking with several people on how they got a job. I thought that I would write about this subject. In my 27 years of being in business, I’ve been unemployed several times. But I’ve gotten a job real quick.

I learned how to get the job and what it took to get a job. Sometimes when you are unemployed, you can’t see right in front of you. Because you are so worried about everything, from kids, to rent to food. You are so focus on those issues that you forget what you really need to focus on and that is in getting a job. Everything else will fall in place once you get the job in hand. Here are some tips that will help you refocus on getting the job.

Think Job! – Again, you are so focus on worries that you forget to focus on getting a job. So you must think and work on getting a job. Do and think positive about getting a job. Let go of the thinking of what happen and how are you going to pay for things. When you need to refocus on getting the job.

Retouch up your Resume – Lot’s of people have never heard of a resume or they need to dust if from it being on the shelf so long. You need to look at your resume again and touch it up. Build another if you have to or see what kind of adjustments you need to make. But make it better looking because you have grown since you last applied for a job.

Fax your Resume & Application from the your local Unemployment center – That right, a little secret that a lot of people don’t know. But if you fax your application and resume from your local Unemployment center, you will be moved to the top of the list. Lots of Personnel Directors from lots of companies know that someone who comes from the unemployment office must get a job quick. They will circulate your application & resume quickly through a lot of hiring mangers and they will try there best to get you a job.

Stock UP – When you know you are going to be laid off or you hear a rumor that downsizing is going to take place in your company. About 90% of those rumors are true. Start stocking up, buy extra toilet paper, extra hand soap, extra, extra of things you need around the house. This will relieve you from the added stress.

Just get a Job! – I’ve said this many times, but when you don’t have a job. You don’t really have a choice; you must get just a job. Once you get a job, keep looking until you find one that you want. Even though, it’s a job that you don’t normally take. But you must eat and keep the lights on, so just get a job.

Don’t give up – Lot’s of people as soon as they are looking for a job after week one. They give up and don’t go the following day or week. You can’t give up. You need to be working 7 days a week, until you find a job. Work hard and keep looking. Ask people, read a newspaper, talk to different companies. But you must keep looking until you find something.

Tell people that you are unemployed – I’ve learned that when you lose your job. Tell people, let them know, you know so many people that they might give you a clue on where to find a job. People are more helpful that what is given credit. When I was laid off from a job. I spoke to a neighbor and about two days later. He came knocking at my door and he gave me a hint on a job that I might be interested in. I applied and job and I got the job. Plus he gave me a surprise good reference that I needed.

Think of a different career – This is a good opportunity to start thinking of a new career. Lot’s of people think that what they know that’s it but when I was getting laid off from jobs. I started thinking of a dream job or a dream career. I started looking in that direction and I found a job quicker than sticking to what I know.

Go learn – when you are unemployed. You need to starting training yourself or better yourself. That should give you the time to learn. If you can’t afford a class, go the public library and read. If you need to learn something, read. Or just take a quick class. But learn something. That is a good marketing tool for you.

I hope that I gave you some good clues and tips in getting a job. But the only real message that I want to give you is to not and don’t give up. You do have a skill and you do know how to work, so go get a job.

But the husband is missing the point. You have to get gas in the car, food on the table and try to make things meet.

Also if you wait until that perfect job. It will not come because if you say no to something than something big will never come.

He needs to swallow his pride and get to work... Hey you never know, he might become Grocery store manager and those people make 6 figures, easily....
